JANUARY:
People We Meet On Vacation
ROMCOMS ARE BACK! January 2026 will be jam-packed with book-to-screen adaptations, kicking off the year with Netflix’s release of People We Meet on Vacation, based on the bestselling romance novel by Emily Henry.
The story follows friends Poppy (played by Emily Bader) and Alex (played by Tom Blythe), who travel together every summer for a decade. Despite their obvious differences, the two share a strong connection that slowly grows into something much more than just friendship.

His & Hers
As far as book-to-screen adaptations go, Netflix’s version of Alice Feeney’s bestselling novel His & Hers has been highly anticipated since it was announced back in July 2024. The 6-part psychological thriller will land on Netflix on the 8th of January.
The story follows both the journalist reporting on a high-profile murder case and the detective investigating it. It will star Tessa Thompson as Anna Andrews, an ambitious journalist, and Jon Bernthal as Jack Harper, an emotionally intense and dedicated detective.

Seven Dials
Netflix’s adaptation of Agatha Christie’s novel The Seven Dials Mystery, shortened simply to Seven Dials, will premiere on January the 15th.
Just like the book, the period drama will recount the events of a deadly prank carried out at a country house party in 1920s London, unfolding over three gripping episodes. The adaptation features a number of notable actors, including Helena Bonham Carter, Mia McKenna-Bruce, and Martin Freeman.
Viewers can expect an adaptation filled with glamour, twists and turns, and a compelling murder mystery that lives up to the popularity of the 2010 novel.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms
On January 18th, HBO and HBO Max will launch the first season of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, adapted from a series of prequel novellas by world-renowned fantasy author George R.R. Martin.
The series, starring Peter Claffey and Dexter Sol Ansell, has been described as a faithful adaptation of the three stories in the collection: The Hedge Knight, The Sworn Sword and The Mystery Knight. The plot follows Ser Duncan the Tall and his squire, Egg, and takes place nearly 90 years before the events of Game of Thrones.

Bridgerton Season 4
The Bridgerton series produced by Netflix, adapted from Julia Quinn’s 8 regency novels, will continue this January with the release of season 4. This season is inspired by the 3rd book in the series, An Offer from a Gentlemen.
Viewers can expect a shift from the previous season, with producers focusing on Benedict and his pursuit of the “Lady in Silver,” aka Sophie, a woman from a lower social class who is pretending to be part of high society.

Wuthering Heights
Classic literature lovers will get to see Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi take on Emily Brontë’s gothic masterpiece in 2026. The highly anticipated adaptation of Wuthering Heights will hit cinemas on February 11th.
As many readers will already know, Wuthering Heights is a tragic story following the passionate, destructive, and complicated relationship between Catherine Earnshaw and her childhood companion, Heathcliff.
It is expected that the tone and focus of the movie will differ from the book. While the original novel explores themes such as generational trauma, psychological turmoil, and social class, writer and director Emerald Fennell will take her adaptation in a different direction. Expect a dark and intense production.

Project Hail Mary
Sci-fi lovers can look forward to an adaptation of Andy Weir’s award-winning and critically acclaimed novel Project Hail Mary, releasing in cinemas on March 20th.
Ryan Gosling will play the character of Ryland Grace, a former teacher turned astronaut who wakes up on a small spacecraft suffering from amnesia. As the last remaining survivor of his crew, Ryland must find a solution to a microorganism absorbing the sun’s energy and threatening to extinct planet Earth.

Margo’s Got Money Troubles
Fans of Margot’s Got Money Troubles will finally see Margot’s story come to life this spring with an 8-part limited series landing on Apple TV+ on the 15th of April.
The book follows a young pregnant woman who, in a desperate attempt to fix her financial problems and avoid eviction, starts an OnlyFans account.
You can expect a mixture of humour and more serious topics explored throughout the series, including motherhood, societal pressure, and economic survival.

MAY:
The Devil Wears Prada 2
Almost 20 years after the original film, The Devil Wears Prada is finally returning to the big screen. Loosely based on Lauren Weisberger’s sequel Revenge Wears Prada: The Devil Returns, this adaptation will hit cinemas on May 1.
Hollywood royalty Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway will reprise their roles as the cut-throat Miranda Priestly and the dynamic Andy Sachs. Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci will also return for the second instalment.
The film will divert somewhat from the plot of the second book, focusing more on Miranda’s character and the decline of traditional print media.

Remarkably Bright Creatures
This long-awaited adaptation of the popular 2022 novel Remarkably Bright Creatures will arrive on Netflix on May 8th.
The plot follows a lonely widow named Tova (played by Sally Field), who forms an unusual connection with a clever Pacific octopus while working at her local aquarium. This unlikely friendship helps her uncover the truth about her son’s disappearance and brings her a new sense of hope and belonging.

JULY:
The Odyssey
On July 17th, Christopher Nolan’s adaptation of The Odyssey will be released in cinemas. The star-studded cast includes Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Mia Goth, Zendaya, and Robert Pattinson.
These big names in Hollywood will come together to retell the ancient story of Odysseus and his 10-year journey home after the Trojan War. This profoundly influential piece of Western literature explores themes such as justice, loyalty, and fate.

The Love Hypothesis
The BookTok sensation and STEM romance The Love Hypothesis, written by Ali Hazelwood, will arrive on Prime Video in September 2026.
This popular love story follows PhD student Olive Smith (played by Lili Reinhart) and her fake dating arrangement with Professor Adam Carlsen (played by Tom Bateman).
The book is a favourite among readers due to its balance of witty banter, academic drama, and emotional depth, all of which are expected to be included in the movie adaptation.

The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping
Sunrise on the Reaping, adapted from Suzanne Collins’ immensely successful Hunger Games series, will be released in cinemas on November 20th.
Set in Panem 24 years before the events of the original story, this book adaptation centres around Haymitch Abernathy’s participation in the 50th Hunger Games. The story follows Haymitch’s fight for survival among 47 other tributes in the brutal games orchestrated by the Capitol.
The film will star Joseph Zada as Haymitch, alongside other notable actors including Ralph Fiennes, Maya Hawke, and Elle Fanning. The story will delve deeper into Haymitch’s origins, giving fans greater insight into the events that shaped him.
