JANUARY
People We Meet On Vacation
ROMCOMS ARE BACK! January 2026 will be jam-packed with book to screen adaptations, kicking off with the release of Netflix’s People We Meet On Vacation written by Emily Henry. The story follows friends Poppy (played by Emily Bader) and Alex (played by Tom Blythe) – who travel together every summer for a decade. Expect yearning, fun outfits, a killer soundtrack and a love confession in the rain. What’s not to love?

His & Hers
As far as book to screen adaptations go – Netflix’s version of Alice Feeney’s bestselling novel His & Hers has been highly anticipated since it was announced in July 2024. The 6-part psychological thriller will land on Netflix on the 8th of January, following both the journalist reporting on and the detective investigating a high-profile murder case. If you enjoyed the novels themes of subjective truths, toxic relationships and revenge – be sure to watch Netflix’s adaptation.

The Seven Dials Mystery
Netflix’s adaptation of Agatha Christie’s novel The Seven Dials Mystery – shortened simply to ‘Seven Dials’ will premiere on Netflix on January the 15th. This period drama recounts the events of a deadly prank carried out at a country house party in 1920’s London – told over 3 gripping episodes.

A Knight of Seven Kingdoms
On January 18th, HBO and HBO Max will launch the first season of A Knight of Seven Kingdoms, adapted from a collection of prequel novellas by world-renowned author George R.R. Martin. The series has been described as a faithful adaptation of the 3 stories in the collection; The Hedge Knight, The Sworn Sword and The Mystery Knight. The series takes place nearly 90 years before the events of Game of Thrones and follows Ser Duncan the Tall and his squire egg.

Bridgeton season 4
The Bridgeton series adapted from Julia Quinn’s regency novels will continue this January with the release of Season 4. Viewers can expect a shift in focus, with producers honing in on Benedict and his pursuit of “Lady in Silver” aka Sophie, a woman in a lower social class pretending to be high society.

FEBRUARY
Wuthering Heights
Literature lovers will get to see Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi take on Emily Bronte’s gothic masterpiece in 2026. The highly anticipated version of Wuthering Heights will hit cinemas on February 11. It is expected that the tone and focus of the movie will differ from the book. Whilst the original novel highlights themes such as generational trauma, psychological inner states and social class, writer and director Emerald Fenell takes the movie adaptation in a different direction. Expect a dark, intense and erotic production.

Project Hail Mary
Sci-fi lovers can look forward to an adaptation of Andy Weir’s award-winning and critically acclaimed novel Project Hail Mary, releasing on March 20th. Ryan Gosling will play the character of Ryland Grace, a former teacher turned astronaut who wakes up on a small spacecraft suffering from amnesia. As the last remaining survivor of his crew, Ryland must find a solution to a microorganism absorbing the sun’s energy and threatening to extinct planet Earth.

APRIL
Margo’s Got Money Troubles

March flowers brings April…Rufi Thorpe book adaptations? Fans of Margot’s Got Money Troubles will finally see Margot’s story come to life this spring with an 8-part limited series landing on Apple TV+ on the 15th of April. The book follows a young pregnant woman who, in a desperate attempt to fix her financial problems and avoid eviction, starts an OnlyFans account. You can expect a mixture of humour and more serious topics explored in the series including motherhood, societal pressure and economic survival.

MAY
The Devil Wears Prada 2
Loosely based on Lauren Weisberger’s Devil Wears Prada sequel Revenge Wears Prada; The Devil Returns, this adaptation will see Hollywood royalty Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway reprise their roles as the cut-throat Miranda Priestly and the dynamic Andy Sachs. The film will divert somewhat from the plot of the second book, focusing more on Miranda’s character and the decline of traditional print media.

JULY
The Odyssey
On July 17, Christopher Nolan’s adaptation of The Odyssey will be unveiled. The star-studded cast includes Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Mia Goth, Zendaya, and Robert Pattinson. These big names in Hollywood will come together to retell the ancient story of Odysseus and his 10-year journey home after the Trojan War. This profoundly influential piece of Western literature explores themes such as justice, loyalty and fate. These same themes will be carried over to the big screen, along with a plot filled with adventure, gods and monsters.

The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping
Sunrise on the Reaping, adapted from Suzanne Collins immensely successful Hunger Games series will be released in cinemas on November 20th. Set in Panem 24 years before the original story took place, this book adaptation centres around Haymitch Abernathy’s participation in the 50th Hunger Games.
